Odell Cheerleading (Winter 2025/2026)

Thank you for your interest in Odell Cheer! During the winter season, we cheer for Odell Rec basketball teams that match the age group of our cheerleaders. This is a true rec experience, and athletes with no experience are welcome! We will cover the basics of sideline cheerleading, some basic jump/tumble/stunting, and the girls will eventually learn a short half-time pom routine to round out their cheer season! We register the following age categories: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-14. Cheer squads will be assigned one practice night each week. 5-6 and 9-10 will practices on Tuesdays, 7-8 and 11-14 will practices on Thursdays. Games will be held at a consistent time and location on Saturdays beginning in January that will be determined once the season begins. (For example, your team might be assigned 11am @ Boger Elementary. that means all of your games will be at that place and time.) Games will run through late February to align with basketball championships, and while we do run into some inclement weather we anticipate the athletes getting to cheer a minimum of six games. All practices are held at Odell Elementary School in the gym and are drop-off as we do not have the space or the safety clearance for parents to attend.

Cost is $200 per athlete. Cost includes cheer bow and pom poms that the athletes will keep at the end of the season, a rented uniform that is returned at the end of the season. The only thing athletes will need to provide on their own are plain white soft-soled sneakers (cheer shoes are preferred and can be purchased online at sites like Amazon and in-person at Academy Sports). They will also need to wear black bloomers or shorts under their skirts. Other expenses covered by registration include safety supplies for coaches, background checks, gym facility fees, etc.

*Note that our season does not align exactly with Odell Rec Basketball. Because in the Fall our cheer program is Pop Warner affiliated and competitive, that season does not end until approx. Dec 12th. Therefore, this Winter season runs approximately December 16th through the end of basketball season at the end of February.
